The Crestview Earth Day Alley Crawl
Spring is coming….I just know it somehow. Looking for a great way to make your world a better place? Why not start in your own back yard! You are cordially invited to Crestview rd’s 1st Annual Earth Day Beautification Project. Our ambitious goal is a clean up of the alleys on either side of Crestview Rd., from Indianola to High St.
The event will be held on Saturday April 26th from 8:30am -11:30am. Volunteers will meet at The Clintonville Community Market at the corner of Crestview and Calumet to get our assignments and break into teams. We have partnered with Green Columbus and Keep Columbus Beautiful, who will be providing us with trash removal supplies. We will be picking up trash, removing debris, and where applicable, spreading some native wildflower and sunflower seeds, as a special touch. We need as much help as we can get so bring the entire family and all your friends. Our Goal is 50 volunteers! The day will culminate with a celebration at the Columbus Commons for friends, fun and food trucks, yum! Festivities run from 11am -10pm

Some of you may recall hearing the exciting news last June that eight recreation facilities had been selected to participate in the City’s Pilot Public Art Bike Rack Program. The program was initiated by the Columbus Art Commission (CAC) in partnership with the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department (CRPD). The art bike rack proposals have been reviewed for artistic merit by an art review panel seated by the CAC and engineers in the Public Service Department have looked them over for basic constructability, safety and budget issues. The participating recreation centers are:
Barack Community Center
Blackburn Community Center
Dodge Community Center
Indian Mound Community Center
Milo Grogan Community Center
Westgate Community Center
Whetstone Community Center
Tuttle Community Center
Eight great proposals have moved forward and voting is now open on the Columbus Planning Division’s web page (www.columbus.gov/planning/publicart/bikeracks.aspx). Here you’ll find proposal images and be able to cast a vote for your favorite design. Please share the voting link with your fellow council and community members, and area businesses. Voting information has also been sent to your local Area Commission Chairpersons with the request that they share it with other commissioners and members of your community.
Voting will close Monday, May 6th at 5:00 pm EST.
We encourage you to vote early and vote once. The results will be tallied and posted to the Planning Division webpage.
Once the results are in, they will be submitted to the Columbus Recreation and Parks Commission and the Columbus Art Commission for final approval. Upon approval, a Request for Proposals will be issued for fabrication and installation of the selected bike rack designs.
